Director Daryl Jaschen of the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) and FEMA U.S. Virgin Islands Caribbean Area Office Coordinator Mark A. Walters join guest host Jamila Russell in the studio to discuss disaster planning, evacuation, and supplies.

Part 2 - Jamila Russell thanks the WTJX family for their coverage of the 2023 St. Thomas Carnival Parade, enjoyed at home by many. Speaking of enjoyment, Howard Forbes, the Virgin Islands Marine Advisor Services director, calls in to discuss the upcoming Youth Ocean Explorers (YOE) Summer Program. The 4-week, hands-on marine science program is available for middle to high-school-aged students interested in exploring the oceans. At the end of the program, students can earn their open water scuba certification from the Coki Dive Center and Cane Bay Dive Shop from certified Professional Divers Association Instructors (PADI). Forbes hopes that the program will help to further the students' love for the ocean!

Part 1 - "Where in the world is Neville James?" Jamila Russell fills in for Neville as the host of Analyze This. Jamila is joined in studio by marine expert Matthew Warham, coral reef initiative coordinator for the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR). Warham and fellow DPNR colleague Erin Bowman, a coral fellow with the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), were recently listed as contributors to an article published in Science Advances, a scientific journal. Warham provides extensive information about the decline of the long-spined sea urchin, how they maintain the corals, and their role in stabilizing the underwater ecosystem.

Part 2 - Deputy Regional Administrator Walter Mugdan of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) provides a detailed timeline of what led to the shutdown of West Indies Petroleum Limited and Port Hamilton Refining and Transportation, LLLP. The refinery was formerly known as Limetree Bay Terminals and Limetree Bay Refining, LLC, and HOVENSA. The EPA has conditionally approved plans for the safe removal of dangerous chemicals from systems at the refinery. Mugdan states that the EPA has collaborated with the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, VITEMA and other government agencies to keep the public informed during the cleanup process.

Part 1 - Virgin Islands Police Department's own, Uston Cornelius, deputy chief, visits the show to provide updates on local law enforcement's efforts to reduce and deter crime. Cornelius urges the community to continue its support of VIPD operations. The territory has seen a wave of crimes in the past few weeks. Cornelius attributes this to the "changing times" and an easier access to weapons. Cornelius reaffirmed the VIPD's commitment to community safety and expressed his heartfelt condolences to family members who have lost loved one due to acts of violence.

Part 2 - Ronald Phillips, staff engineer at Virgin Islands Waste Management (VIWMA) discusses infrastructure changes and plans for prudent replacement. Phillips details plans for Christiansted sewer line replacements and manhole rehabilitation, except for Company Street, St. Croix. The repairs are a collaborative effort between VIWMA, the V.I. Water and Power Authority, the Department of Public Works and is projected to last two years.

The 2023 St. Thomas Carnival Village, which opened on Monday, April 24, is named in honor of Charleswell. James later discusses COVID-19 stats and urges listeners to take necessary precautions. Executive Director Colleen M. Richardson, Psy.D, of the Veterans Affairs National Caregiver Support program discusses support for veteran caregivers. The mission for the program is to understand, access and support the non-traditional needs of veteran caregivers in the Virgin Islands.
